In this workshop you will take disparate elements and learn how to use them to create a united, finished work of art. Using silk paints you will paint some silk and then cut it into fragments that will become the base of the collage. You will also have the chance to experiment with mark making on plastic sheets and then mono-print them on silk organza to create additional layers for your collage. The final step that unites the whole collage is thoughtfully applying more layers of silk paint that will connect and add depth to your various elements. Together we will discuss the elements of design as your collage emerges from the layers of color, shape and line.
Throughout the class there will be an emphasis on taking the time to step back and read the art as it is developing on the silk and allowing it to guide you on your creative journey.
