Clara also hosts classes led by leading silk artists.  These classes are an opportunity to learn advanced techniques from the most highly regarded silk painters in a relaxed, yet challenging environment.

There are times in an artist's life when the flow of ideas just seems to stop.  Using some interesting and simple technique you will learn a way to move past those frustrating stopping points and see design possibilities that you might not have seen before.  This is a class that will teach you how to see beyond the images in front of you to discover the unique forms and shapes that speak to you.

On the first day you will begin with an image of your choosing.  Then, using tracing paper, a marker and scissors,  you will lean a way to come up with an innovative design based loosely on that image.  On the second day you will translate that design into a wonderful silk painting or scarf.

Two Day Workshop: Saturday, January 28th and Sunday January 29th, 2012

Time: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Tuition: $170 plus a $25 materials fee

This workshop is an exciting departure from traditional silk painting. The process involves sizing the surface of the silk so that dyes that are slightly thickened can be applied without the use of a resist line. Each student will be provided with a line drawing and an image of the flower that we will paint in the class.

Class size is kept to a six person maximum thus offering a wonderful opportunity for silk artists of all technical levels due to the intense personal attention given to each student. At class end each artist will come away with a wonderful painting suitable for framing.
